Jobs Description:

The Business Consultant (BC) identifies, communicates and structures a client’s key decision-problems into a frame-work of strategic – , tactical and operational decision-problems and is able to design a comprehensive solution.

In order to analyze the client’s challenges the BC will formulate and deploy advanced operations research models. Solvers, sensitivity analysis, combinatorial optimization, time series analysis, mathematical statistics are part of the daily vocabulary. The BC will independently develop (or has the potential to develop) proto-type models using Java, C++ or similar languages or use a 4th generation modeling language to analyze decision-problems and provide comprehensive feedback to the client.

As a good communicator and having excellent presentation skills, the BC is able to direct, motivate and assist the clients with the execution of proposed solutions.

Minimum requirements:

Master degree Operations Research / Applied Mathematics (or Compensating experience in Oil / Gas / Geothermal drilling)
For Seniors; 6 years relevant working experience (consulting) in different industries in similar positions
For Seniors: 3 years proven experience with the development and implementation of advanced planning – and scheduling systems, including usage of common solvers
Strong personal skills, good communicator and report writer

SENIOR SPECIALIST (Fund Raising)

BASIC PURPOSE

Handles a senior fund raising role in support of the Development Director, especially in developing philanthropic opportunities in the Philippines, among Filipino communities overseas, and to a lesser extent in Hong Kong. The position also leads and manages the research efforts of the Development Office and the strategic database management of the Office of External Relations. As well, the candidate ensures the efficient functioning and smooth flow of daily operations and activities between the Development Office and the IRRI Fund in Singapore and the IRRI Foundation Hong Kong.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a team, takes a lead role in gathering, processing, and analyzing information about potential donors (e.g. foundations, corporate, and individual) derived from a variety of internal and external lists of sources.
Develops and maintains the donor prospect database.
Identifies the relationships between individuals and foundations /corporations/ institutions.
Monitors the media for relevant information.
Provides inputs for the development of plans and strategies for approaching donors for support.
Provide staff support to the Development Director in the process of identifying and cultivating potential donors.
Generates creative reports for submission and/or presentation including appropriate tables and charts.
Heads the development plans and strategies for approaching prospective donors for support in the Philippines.

Supervises and leads the research efforts of the Development Office and the IRRI Fund in Singapore and Hong Kong, and manages their connections.
Creates feasibility studies based on prospective donors.

Develops, customizes, and maintains the prospect and donor database, Salesforce.
Assumes authority over Salesforce training in the Institute besides the Development Office: IFS, IFHK, PR, DRPC, DG, DMS, CPS, TC, and PMMS.
Manages some of the database users in the Institute.
Coordinates and arranges visits and meetings with prospects and donors.
Plans and organizes campaign and fund raising events and opportunities as and when needed, focusing on donor prospects, in coordination with EVO, CPS, and RMEO.
Directs and manages future additional research staff.
Leads the database heads of all operating units under the Office of External Relations in strategic database management.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCES REQUIRED

Master’s Degree in Economics, Development, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related field; At least six years relevant experience, with more than two years in supervisory capacity and international environments; Ability to raise funds for science and agricultural research.
