Solvers, sensitivity analysis, combinatorial optimization, time series analysis, mathematical statistics are part of the daily vocabulary. The BC will independently develop (or has the potential to develop) proto-type models using Java, C++ or similar languages or use a 4th generation modeling language to analyze decision-problems and provide comprehensive feedback to the client.</span></span></p>

<h1>SENIOR SPECIALIST (Fund Raising)</h1>

<p><strong>BASIC PURPOSE</strong></p>
<p>Handles a senior fund raising role in support of the Development Director, especially in developing philanthropic opportunities in the Philippines, among Filipino communities overseas, and to a lesser extent in Hong Kong. The position also leads and manages the research efforts of the Development Office and the strategic database management of the Office of External Relations. As well, the candidate ensures the efficient functioning and smooth flow of daily operations and activities between the Development Office and the IRRI Fund in Singapore and the IRRI Foundation Hong Kong.</p>
<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>As part of a team, takes a lead role in gathering, processing, and analyzing information about potential donors (e.g. foundations, corporate, and individual) derived from a variety of internal and external lists of sources.</li>
<li>Develops and maintains the donor prospect database.</li>
<li>Identifies the relationships between individuals and foundations /corporations/ institutions.</li>
<li>Monitors the media for relevant information.</li>
<li>Provides inputs for the development of plans and strategies for approaching donors for support.</li>
<li>Provide staff support to the Development Director in the process of identifying and cultivating potential donors.</li>
<li>Generates creative reports for submission and/or presentation including appropriate tables and charts.</li>
<li>Heads the development plans and strategies for approaching prospective donors for support in the Philippines.</li>
<li>Guides the Development Director, Director General, Deputy Director General for Operations and Support Services, Head of the Office of External Relations, and volunteer leaders in the identification, cultivation, and soliciting of leadership and major gifts prospects.</li>
<li>In the Philippines, develops, establishes, and sustains relationships with donors and prospects (individuals, foundations, and corporations).</li>
<li>Helps conceptualizes creative and meaningful donor recognition schemes and be responsible for continued stewardship.</li>
<li>Helps drafts, monitors, and tracks correspondence with donors related to contributions and pledges.</li>
<li>Leads the research and analysis on factors affecting philanthropic environments: (1) the political and economic status of countries, (2) the financial status of companies (affecting corporate social responsibility), and (3) the philanthropic background of prospective donors and foundations.</li>
<li>Supervises and leads the research efforts of the Development Office and the IRRI Fund in Singapore and Hong Kong, and manages their connections.</li>
<li>Creates feasibility studies based on prospective donors.</li>
<li>Produces research for other operating units that are relevant to the Development Office.</li>
<li>Develops, customizes, and maintains the prospect and donor database, Salesforce.</li>
<li>Assumes authority over Salesforce training in the Institute besides the Development Office: IFS, IFHK, PR, DRPC, DG, DMS, CPS, TC, and PMMS.</li>
<li>Manages some of the database users in the Institute.</li>
<li>Coordinates and arranges visits and meetings with prospects and donors.</li>
<li>Plans and organizes campaign and fund raising events and opportunities as and when needed, focusing on donor prospects, in coordination with EVO, CPS, and RMEO.</li>
<li>Directs and manages future additional research staff.</li>
<li>Leads the database heads of all operating units under the Office of External Relations in strategic database management.</li>

<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support accounting activities and daily operations for Hong Kong office</li>
<li>Update accounting reports such as cheque summary and analysis report</li>
<li>Prepare cheque and payroll schedule as request</li>
<li>Work closely with local and china staffs to coordinate different projects</li>
<li>Handle full range of office administration functions</li>
<li>Interact with internal staffs, banks and other financial intermediaries</li>
<li>Provide IT (computer) support for Hong Kong office</li>
<li>Assist in ad-hoc projects</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Higher Diploma or above with minimum 3 years relevant working experience in administration field</li>
<li>Proficient in PC applications including MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Chinese word processing</li>
<li>Be responsible, reliable, self-motivated, proactive and good  organization skills, Independent, well-organized and detail-oriented</li>
<li>Good spoken English and Mandarin (MUST)</li>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Responsibilities:</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Work closely with external tax advisors to obtain appropriate advice   on the tax implications of transactions, negotiate with local tax   authorities and obtain advance ruling where applicable</li>
<li>Manage tax audits by local authorities in the region, including  reviewing correspondence with tax offices</li>
<li>Provide practical tax advice on cross-border transactions,   reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, including indirect tax   implications</li>
<li>Manage transfer pricing strategy and work with Corporate on transfer  pricing documentation</li>
<li>Advise on all indirect tax matters, such as business tax and VAT</li>
<li>Manage the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, FIN 48 reporting. Be   familiar with FAS 109 and coordinate the queries from Corporate on   Income Tax Accounting</li>
<li>Address tax issues associated with routine operational matters.   Familiarity with local regulatory and Foreign Exchange controls is an   added advantage</li>
<li>Advise on the impact of new tax law changes on the Company’s  operations</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Requirements :</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Degree holder and qualified / chartered accountant or equivalent</li>
<li>6 to 8 years of practical experiences in Transfer Pricing with at   least 2 years in a manager level, preferably gained in tax practices of   Big 4, large law firms, consultant firms or commercial tax practices in   large MNCs or local listed companies etc.</li>
<li>Solid experiences in Transfer Pricing compliance and consulting of  Asia Pacific countries</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of direct or indirect taxes, merger &amp;   acquisition, restructuring and funding arrangement in Asia Pacific   countries would add an advantage</li>
<li>Excellent managerial, organization and project management, research,  analytical and presentation skills</li>
<li>Experience with Sarbanes Oxley related compliance and FIN48  reporting</li>
<li>Strong self motivation and ability to work in a dynamic time  sensitive with varying deliverables and changing requirements</li>
<li>Team player, energetic, mature and flexible</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Well versed in written and oral English, Chinese, Cantonese and  Mandarin</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint etc</li>
<li>Willing to travel, mainly within the Asia Pacific region</li>
</ul>
